The Royal Air Force Regiment was established by Royal Warrant. Its motto is Per Ardua – Through Adversity. Training schools were established across the UK, with officers and gunners trained to operate as infantry, armoured car crewmen and air defence artillerymen. All were trained as Combat Infantrymen, a role that continues today. The Regiment has been involved in operations in the Falklands, the Balkans, Sierra Leone, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as maintaining Force Protection for RAF assets deployed around the world.
