A highlight of the visit was a capability display that illustrated how the RAF Police combine policing, security and protection functions to support RAF operations both in the UK and overseas. MinVP was given an overview of detention operations, demonstrating the RAF Police's ability to manage custody and detention safely and lawfully in both home-based and deployed environments.

Military Working Dogs and their handlers demonstrated their expertise in search, detection and security tasks, while Military Aviation Protection Officers highlighted their vital role in aviation security and the protection of critical air assets. Together, these capabilities showcased the RAF Police's integrated approach to protecting personnel, infrastructure and operations.

MinVP observes passenger processing during an operational training scenario. An explosives and arms detection dog detected a passenger smuggling weapons. As RAF Police personnel move to investigate, the passenger attempts to flee the scene but is swiftly detained by an RAF Police Military Working Dog (MWD) team. The individual is subsequently arrested while MinVP watches the exercise demonstrating RAF Police operational capabilities.

The visit provided MinVP with a valuable insight into the breadth of RAF Police capabilities and the important contribution they make to supporting air operations. The capabilities on show highlighted how RAF Police personnel help safeguard people, assets and missions, enabling the RAF to operate wherever it is required around the globe.
