Station Commanders, new and old standing new to each other

Looking back over the last two years as Station Commander, Group Captain Wigglesworth reflected on his time at the base. Speaking to Station Personnel he said “We have done a heck of a lot over the last two years; we said goodbye to Her Late Majesty the Queen and welcomed His Majesty King Charles as our Honorary Air Commodore; we have endured the disruption of new building work and closed facilities but we are now starting to see the benefits with new accommodation and refurbished venues opening up.  We have engaged with our local community with numerous parades, ceremonies, receptions and other events that have upheld the incredible pride that the whole county of Norfolk has in this Station. And all of that has contributed to our core output in delivering combat air power to current and future operations. It is with a heart full of pride that I hand over this very special Station to Group Captain Boyd, with my best wishes.”

Handing over of the silver bull

Accepting the symbolic ‘Silver Bull’ from Group Captain Wigglesworth, Group Captain Boyd said, “It is a real honour to take command of RAF Marham today and I am looking forward to meeting everyone on Station and our families in the local community who I know support RAF Marham in many ways. Group Captain Wigglesworth has done so much over the last 2 years to improve the Station and make it a great place to live and work for our people and their families. There are still challenges ahead but I know that together we can continue to build on everything that has been achieved so far.”

Group Captain Boyd joined the RAF in 2001 as an Aerospace Engineer and has served at a number of locations across the globe but has never previously served at RAF Marham. With her new appointment as RAF Marham Station Commander, Group Captain Boyd will also be responsible for UK Support to all US permanent presence in the UK, including ten RAF Stations assigned to the US Air Force for exclusive use.
